SALUTING WOMANHOOD!

Today's Time's LIFE's main article is titled "THE MEAN GIRLS". It reads, "Men go for someone smarter, sassier and sexier. They want a partner who lives by her rules". It brought a smile on my face. Is it really so? Has the 21st century brought along with it such an air that women are given the 100% liberty, freedom (of speech and actions).

I agree that womanhood has seen amazing evolvement in the past years and today's modern woman's wants are much bolder and at times unacceptable to the society. But what's wrong with that? The need to be competitive enough with the men is not a wrong thought. Then at the end of the day, why are we asked to be more family oriented?

Well, being a family person is not at all an demanding job. But why do men fail to realise that today's modern woman can handle both, her career as well as her family life. I think the fact that a man has to make equal compromises rather than just being the bread and butter earner of the family dumb strucks him.

The article goes on to read that today's girls storm with an attitude of 'to-hell-with-what-the world-thinks' but at the end of the day, women tend to ponder over the slightest event that could have made their day memorable or uneventful. Have we (women) been taken away so much by this modern world that we've forgotten to look back at our roots? Has the modern thought, globalisation, the competitive world, a male dominated world taken such a toil over our ethics?

A woman who plays a key role in building a family, entriscing a society and entwining the base for socialisation...can we really change our norms to suit our ways of living? Or rather, if we do so, the question is how accepting the society is of our being intimidating and independent nature?

Our want of home, marriage, the perfect guy, career, lifestyle...how much of it are we allowed to decide today? If we are competent enough to be better than men in many fields, explore the world, know our needs, fulfill them, have an independent thought and rule our life, our way...then why should we demure?

Our role as a mother, daughter, sister, wife, friend will never intrude our ways of life (we know it) so, why should we surrender and compromise in maximum spheres of life? We have the power to be the Powerful Pratibha Patil, the gracious Madhubala, The sensous Priyanka Chopra, the Bold Kiran Bedi and many more facets to one simple word "WOMAN" and one simple concept of being "WHAT WE OUGHT TO BE" :)

Tees Maar Khan.

A movie that was hyped with promotions before its release has unfortunately bombed at the box office. Directed by Farah Khan, music by Vishal-Shekhar. Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif and Akshay Khanna star in the movie. Apparently, Mr. Shirish Kunder who has written the screen play, edited it and is also the thoughtful guy who wrote the story of TMK has failed to amuse the audience.

The usual humor that exists in Farah Khan's movies seemed to be lacking big time. I guess there was just one scene which made me laugh. Where the over-hyped, half Robinhood's (Akshay Kumar/TMK's mother) slaps two police officers assuming them to be bad actors for he son's film.

The character of 'Aadha Robinhood' as TMK is known is because "wo amiro se leta zaroor hain, lekin garibon mein baata nahi"

The story begins with a seminar room where there's a police conference going on. Two siamese brothers ( Raghu-Rajiv) are smugglers and their antique 'maal' is under the police custody. The treasure would be taken to Delhi by a train. Now, what the police is concerned about is that, these brothers will make sure the 'maal' does not reach Delhi. And only our great half Robinhood TMK can rescue it.

TMK is caught by Police officers in Paris. He is taken by a plane back to India to be thrown behind the bars. And Mr. TMK manages to fool the people on the plane by first locking the pilot's cabin and then when the plane is almost about to crash, he unlocks it. I could not figure out, the plane had three pilots and all of them were out of the cabin while TMK was busy locking the cabin. The plane was apparently kept on an 'auto' mode. And the best thing is, the plane did not crash in that span of time.

And then comes our Sheila into the picture. Anya Khan (Katrina Kaif) Her acting skills mesmerise you to re-think why are item girls portrayed so dumb. A beauty without brains. She is obsessed with acting. And is a huge fan of Aatish Kapoor (Akshay Khanna) Astish Kapoor is one flop star who misses the chance of working with Danny Boyle in Slumdog Millionare and now, regrets.

And now, the plot revolves around how TMK gets the smuggled 'maal' back to the Brothers. He decides to make a movie. He asks Akshay Khanna to play the lead role by promising him that he would get an Oscar award if he worked in this film.
Oh, by the way, TMK now becomes a hollywood film director' Day Ramanlal 'who wants to make a movie on India's poverty. Our Sheila is the actress. The script is unkown, the actors are dumb, Dhulwadi by fluke becomes the location of the movie (as the train which has the treasure would be passing by Dhulwadi). Now, our TMK plans to invade the train by telling the villagers and his actors that the train is hired (ya he actually says that) and the villagers are 'krantikaris' who have to stop the train and take out the treasure from the train. He also tells them that the officers are actually foreigners, who might look like Indians (but oh! never mind. Who cares. the whole cast of the movie is dumb anyway).

So, yes that's pretty much the story of Tees Maar Khan. TMK is finally caught by the police. But he gets away at the screening of his movie. And yes, his Dhulwadi movie gets nominated for the Oscars and Aatish Kapoor (Akshay Khanna) wins an Oscar as well.

So, if you are totally jobless, please don't even think of watching this movie. Try getting a DVD and watch Farah Khan's earlier works- Main Hoon Na and Om Shanti Om.

a journey called 'life'

lost thoughts and criteria's given to certain emotions and possibilities are strange. why do people believe in something that is not certain? are expectations that bad? whether it's done from someone or when someone does it from us?
i think it certainly a issue to be pondered over. man is a social animal and his existence in this society is based on his socialisation. is it not?? then is it wrong to think it this way that man is interdependent too? i guess no. at some point of time in our life we are dependent on someone physically, mentally and emotionally. every individual and every relation is of utmost importance.
but why does it happen so that when we entrust our belief in someone it's bound to be broken at some point of time?
i guess our karmas and crimes are to be pondered over the above mentioned point when we talk of love, emotions, trust, faith and belief. all of us are born to live 'our life' not to live the way people want us to. yes, there are certain norms that must be followed. but we must walk on the red carpet to be the rulers of our life. one thing to be kept in mind is each of us are bound with certain responsibilities and entitles towards our loved ones and the society...a follow up path to fulfill them must be visualised. only then the rest of the things would fall in place.
wondering how this is done? heard of a word called 'DESTINY' well it plays the game. we are the players, the world a stage and god and the devil in us are its players. it's upto us to decide the winner. if god wins, we attain a peaceful and a successful life after a hardwork and difficult circumstances as the obstacles and if the little devil in us wins, then it was an easy life for us..but we were imposing cruelity upon others who were an important part of our life :)
so friends, decide what do you want to chose? humanity or inhumanity?

intazaar

khushiya jaise tham si gayi ho
aansu jaise sookh se gaye ho...
dhoondu jahan pyar,
humein bewafai naseeb hoti hai....

akelapan bhi ab soona lagne laga hain
yaaron ke saath guzara hua har pal,
adhura lagne laga hain...
gum ke saaye mein hum
jiye to kaise jiye,
har gum ke aage ab hume...
andhera dikhne laga hain

lagayi thi humne ek,
yaar se pyaar ki aas...
uska har vaada jhoota,
lagne laga hain...
kaise kare hum,
kisi aur pe bharosa...
jab apna hi dil,
suna lagne laga hain....

baarish ka mausam hai,
par aasman ke baadal
jaise tham se gaye ho....
bijli aur tufan jaise koi
sandesa de rahe ho...
aur mera dil phir bhi...
us bewafa ke hi,
khayalo mein khoya hua hain....

us yaar ke liye humne
khud ko itna badal diya....
ki aaina bhi hume
pehchaan ne se inkaar karta hai....

baadal garajte hain, tufan barasta hain...
aur humara baimaan dil...
aaj bhi unke liye...tarasta hain...

baarish ke na barasne par
bhi hum itne udaas na hue...
jitne mere yaar pe kiye hue,
andhvishwaas pe hue...

par kya kare,
dharti baarish ki ek boondh
ke liye tarasti hain....
aur hum unke
ek jhalak ke liye tadapte hain

shattering of a glass

i thought you were the only person i could fall in love with...
but i was soo wrong...
love does not come in our life with a motive...
but mine did.
it taught me a lesson..never to fall in love with you again.

your eyes still grab my attention when i pass you at the staircase...
your breath still makes me feel i am not away from you....

i gaze at the mirror....and wonder,
what is it that was never in me
for which you made a stranger your soulmate...

the mirror denies and says it's just a rumour
it shatters on the ground....
so that i cannot see anything more....
i can still here the mild sound of your breath....
but this time it's on someone else's neck.....

i dont tend to look at you....
but my eyes shift at the girl you just kissed.....
hope she gives you all the love you deserve...
and if she doesn't she'll have to repent....

i still walk alone on the empty streets...
and when a guy looks at me...i just smile...
no one can ever replace you...
just like no one can join the pieces of a broken glass.....

i shed tears in your memory...
but smile when i know that i have treasured the best of them...
and i know no one can seperate them from me...
and i feel secure again...
just like how i felt in your arms....

i want you to be happy...
and look at the sunrise and sunset with your beloved....
i would never want you to
see the glass shatter....

because if you do you'll see my agony...
and you might feel guilty....
and then you might sympathise with me....
why bear all the crap

just go and live your life...
breathe on someone else's neck....
and entangle someone else's hair...
i am trying to belong to someone else now....

Meaning of love

From every human being there rises a light that reaches straight to heaven. And when two souls that are destined to be together find each other, their streams of light flow together, and a single brighter light goes forth from their united being.

As Plato once said, "At the touch of love everyone becomes a poet..."

Suddenly the world seems softer and the hardness in your heart has thawed, and you began to have a feather-light feeling towards most things you're experiencing...

You can't seem to keep your mind off the person you love. You long to be with that special person every minute of your life. You find ways to appear in your loved one's life so very often just so that you can have more memories of the two of you. Unconsciously, you simply let that person fill every inch of your thoughts and so much that the person is even appearing in your dreams at night while you sleep...

Love creates a weird feeling within us. It is strange how you can't seem to get enough of your dear one and yet everything seems complete because of that person's presence and the love showered.

Love is not blind, it sees more not less, But because it sees more it chooses to see less.
-- Will Moss

Some beautiful quotes whihc describe love according to me :)

A loving relationship is one in which the loved one is free to be himself - to laugh with me, but never at me; to cry with me, but never because of me; to love life, to love himself, to love being loved. Such a relationship is based upon freedom and can never grow in a jealous heart.
-- Leo F. Buscaglia

At the touch of love everyone becomes a poet...
-- Plato

Believe in the importance of love, for it is the strength an beauty that brings music to our souls.
Don’t frown because you never know who might be falling in love with your smile.
-- Anonymous

so, my dear freinds...just think about love. whether it has given you joy or sorrow. no one can decide and fall in love. it just happenes. but, when it happens let it happen to you. do not run away from it.

Once in awhile, right in the middle of an ordinary life, love gives us a fairy tale.

i want to fly, to touch the sky
my thoughts wander
they are confused i dont know why
i sleep and gaze at the stars
which blink in the moonlight and shine in the sky.

an emptiness fills me with hope,
discouragement,excitement...
i have mixed emotions.
why is that at a point of time we get
confused in a fixed situation.
life or friends, right or wrong, duties or responsibilities
all tend to fade away
at a given point of time.

and all that you are left with at the end of the day
is a long lasting empitiness.
you dont know what to do...
you just gaze at yourself in the mirror
and wonder, 'who am i?'

well, the answer to all our questions
lie with us....
then why can't we see them?

again a feeling of frustration
fills our empty mind and we tend to be a lone person.
